Naomi Watts was a working Australian tv actress who was good friends with Nicole Kidman but who nonetheless remained under the radar until she was cast in Mulholland Drive, the film that launched her career as a movie star. From there she has gone on to have an amazing movie career, including 21 Grams, King Kong, and one of my favorites, Eastern Promisesand of course, who can forget her in The Ringand many more films.
